Underground Singapore 2016

PARKROYAL on Beach Road

Underground Singapore is a Conference Organised by the Tunnelling and Underground Construction Society (Singapore) and supported by the Centre for Soft Ground Engineering, National University of Singapore.  The purpose of the Conference is to provide a forum for the discussion of issues relevant to the design and construction of underground works in Singapore.  The aim is for contractors, engineers, owners and researchers to share and discuss their experience.

Themes to be covered include:

  • Cases studies of underground construction in Singapore

  • Ground improvement for underground construction – techniques and case studies

  • Effects on structures and utilities, and methods of mitigation

  • Prediction and measurement of ground movements

  • Excavations and shafts

  • Other bored tunnelling methods, in rock and soil including rectangular TBMs

  • Machine tunnelling, in rock and soil

  • Change to Site Investigation and Geological mapping

There will be dedicated sessions for papers relating on the Downtown Line.


About 40 papers have been accepted for the Conference. The papers discuss aspects of a variety of projects, including:

  • Circle Line

  • Tunnel projects in Hong Kong

  • Thomson-East Coast Line

  • The deep cable tunnels

  • Downtown Line

As well as research work related to underground engineering

  • TUCSS reserves the rights to postpone or cancel the conference without prior notice.
  • All registrations are on a first-come-first serve basis. Any cancellation from the participant will not be refunded.
  • Replacement of participants is allowed 7 days prior to the commencement of the conference
